Bethel St. Paul Church
Built in 1923, the original Bethel Church was affectionally known by the community as the “Turtle Soup Church” by virtue of a decades old tradition of preparing and serving turtle soup that began in 1929.
With decades of experience in restoring old buildings of all sizes, Schaefer was selected to renovate this almost 100-year structure. The 5,400 sf renovation included the existing sanctuary, altar area, narthex, and balcony areas. ADA-compliant space, custom millwork, lighting system upgrades, paint video screen, modernization of the audio and video system were also updated. Schaefer’s master carpenters refurbished/refinished the pews.
When serving as a general contractor, we engage a large number of skilled craftsmen by competitively bidding subcontractors for any applicable trades. Collaboration is vital to everything we do, and we approach projects as a partner to the design team and the project owner.
